About the Lightning Protection Module

The EnGenius SN-ULTRA-LPK Lightning Protection Module is designed for outdoor use, safeguarding your Phone System against lightning strikes and electrical surges that could damage it through the Antenna. One Lightning Protection Module is required for each External Antenna that is used.

In essence, the EnGenius SN-ULTRA-LPK acts as a critical surge protector for your outdoor Antenna setup, adding a layer of safety and prolonging the life of your valuable Phone System equipment.

Benefits of the Lightning Protection Module

The primary function of the Lightning Protection Module is to protect your EnGenius Phone System (specifically the Base Station) from damage caused by lightning strikes and other severe electrical surges that could travel through the Coaxial Cable that is connected to an Outdoor Antenna.

Outdoor Use

It's specifically designed and built for outdoor installation, designed to withstand environmental conditions.

Mechanism

It typically employs a gas electrode arrestor or similar technology. When a high voltage surge occurs (like from a lightning strike or nearby electrical event), the arrestor quickly diverts the dangerous current to the ground, preventing it from reaching and frying the sensitive electronics in the Base Station.

Grounding

The Lightning Protection Module requires proper grounding to function effectively. Whilst the Module itself is included, the Grounding Plate or Rod is NOT included and must be installed separately according to local electrical codes by a qualified technician.

Cable Included

The Module comes with a 5m (15ft) section of low-loss Coaxial Cable to connect the Protection Module between your Outdoor Antenna and the Base Station.

Installation

It is generally recommended that the SN-ULTRA-LPK is installed by a qualified professional to ensure proper grounding and adherence to local electrical codes.

For complete protection, you need one SN-ULTRA-LPK Module for each External Antenna that is connected to your EnGenius Base Station.
