The Gigaset SL850H PRO is a cordless DECT handset for business phone systems. At 114 g, it is the smallest and lightest handset in the Gigaset Professional range. It has a 2.4-inch colour display, Bluetooth 5.1 for wireless headsets and up to 12 hours’ talk time from two AAA batteries. It registers to Gigaset N-series IP PRO systems and to other CAT-iq and GAP base stations.
The SL850H PRO is 22 mm deep and 52 mm wide, so it sits comfortably in a shirt pocket or on the supplied belt clip. The 2.4-inch display takes up most of the front, with room for up to 8 lines of text. Caller names, missed calls and messages are shown in full colour.
The keypad is illuminated and has a scratch-resistant finish. A 5-way navigation key and two display keys give quick access to menus. A message waiting key with a flashing LED shows when there is voicemail or a missed call.
The handset supports HD audio through HDSP and CAT-iq 2.1, so calls on a compatible system have a wider voice range than standard DECT. There is a hands-free speaker for calls at a desk. Users can switch between personal, silent and loud audio profiles to match the room they are in.
For hands-free use, pair a headset over Bluetooth 5.1 using the handsfree or headset profile, or plug a wired headset into the 3.5 mm jack. There are 32 ringtones with 5 volume levels and a crescendo setting. You can give VIP contacts and internal callers their own ringtone, and set the handset to vibrate when sound would be a distraction.
Two AAA batteries give up to 12 hours of talk time and up to 320 hours on standby. That covers a working day of calls with plenty in reserve. The handset charges in its desktop charger or over USB-C, and it still charges when switched off.
Gigaset chose AAA batteries in place of a lithium-ion pack to meet the EU Ecodesign Directive requirements that took effect in June 2025. When the batteries reach the end of their life, replace them with standard AAA cells. You do not need to buy a proprietary pack.
The handset uses ECO DECT, which lowers its transmission power when it is close to the base station. On Gigaset systems, the energy-saving power supply also uses up to 60% less energy.
The housing, keypad and display all have a hardened surface coating. It protects against scratches from daily handling and against damage from commercially available disinfectants.
Handsets in shared workspaces and healthcare settings are often wiped down several times a day. Gigaset has tested a range of disinfectants on the SL850H PRO and publishes the list on the Gigaset Professional Wiki. Infection control teams can check their own cleaning products against that list.
The SL850H PRO supports Alarm, Messaging and Location (AML) on compatible systems. You can set the function key on top of the handset as an alarm key, so a user can call for help without unlocking the phone or using the menus.
Incoming alarm messages are signalled by priority, with sound and on-screen alerts. The handset uses 21 message icons in 5 colours, so staff can tell an urgent alert from a routine message. Missed alarm messages are stored on the handset.
For location, the handset scans for Bluetooth beacons and sends location data to the alarm server, so responders know where to go.
The phonebook holds up to 500 vCard entries. Each entry can store a first and last name, three numbers, an email address, a date reminder, a VIP ringtone and a caller picture.
Where the base station or PBX supports it, users can search the company directory over LDAP or XML. They can also search public online directories. With a smartphone paired over Bluetooth, staff can view their Android or iOS contacts on the handset or copy them across.
Caller details are shown through CLIP, picture CLIP and CNIP. The handset keeps separate lists of missed, incoming and outgoing calls, with 20 entries in each, and remembers the last 20 numbers dialled. Users can silence anonymous calls. Do not disturb is available where the system supports it.
On a Gigaset IP PRO system, an administrator can use autoprovisioning to configure handsets in bulk. This covers display keys, alarm keys, emergency numbers, phonebooks, ringtones and screensaver pictures. It can also hide menus so users cannot change settings by accident.
Firmware updates arrive over the air through SUOTA, so handsets stay in use while they are updated. For individual handsets, the Gigaset QuickSync software handles data exchange and firmware updates over USB-C or Bluetooth.
The SL850H PRO works with Microsoft Teams when it is registered to one of Gigaset’s newer single-cell or multi-cell systems. Users can make and receive Teams calls from the handset and listen to their Teams voicemail. They can also join Teams meetings. Staff who move around the building can stay on Teams calls without carrying a laptop or mobile phone.

The handset is light enough to carry between desks and meeting rooms all day. Reception staff can look up a colleague’s extension in the company directory and transfer the call without returning to a desk phone. Offices that run on Microsoft Teams can give staff a handset that takes Teams calls anywhere in the building.
The disinfectant-resistant finish suits rooms with strict cleaning routines. The vibrating alert lets staff take calls in quiet areas. Where the system supports AML, staff can raise an alarm from the top key.
Staff working alone can carry a handset with a dedicated alarm key and location reporting on AML systems. The handset works between 5°C and 45°C, so it is not suited to cold stores or to unheated outdoor areas in winter.
The hotel option locks the handset down for guest use. Call lists can be cleared on a timer and soft key programming can be blocked. The Bluetooth menu is switched off, and the USB-C port is limited to charging and disaster recovery.
Which phone systems the it works with - the SL850H PRO is fully compatible with these Gigaset Professional single-cell and multi-cell DECT systems:
It also registers to CAT-iq and GAP-compatible base stations from other manufacturers, in single-cell and multi-cell setups. Some functions depend on the base station or PBX, so they may not be available on every third-party system. These include autoprovisioning, directory search, do not disturb, the email reader and info services.
Microsoft Teams calling, voicemail and meetings need one of Gigaset’s newer single-cell or multi-cell systems.
The SL850H PRO is a handset only, so you need one of the compatible base stations listed above.
For headsets, use any Bluetooth headset with handsfree or headset profile support, or a wired headset with a 3.5 mm plug. Sites that charge several handsets in one place can add the SL850H PRO snap-in for the Gigaset Multicharger PRO. A spare Gigaset professional belt clip is also available.
