Windows Hello

The integrated Windows Hello function allows you to securely log into your PC using the three primary methods below - these are part of the Windows Hello Feature:

Facial Recognition (Biometric)

This is the main function Enabled by your Windows Hello Webcam that uses specialised hardware technology for enhanced security. The specialised hardware technology has a main primary function - to defeat "spoofing" attempts by distinguishing a live person from a flat image, a video, or a replica mask.

Windows Hello compatible Webcams use Infrared (IR) light and specialised sensors to map the unique structure of your face in 3D, ensuring enhanced security.

PIN

Unlike a traditional password, the Windows Hello PIN is device bound. This means the PIN is only valid on your specific PC or Laptop and is secured by dedicated, tamper-resistant hardware. Even if a hacker intercepts your PIN, they can't use it to log in from a remote device, making it much safer than a conventional password.

Password

You will always have your traditional account password as the ultimate recovery and fail safe login method, which is necessary if Windows Hello biometrics or your PIN fails.

Whilst not as convenient, the password remains the underlying credential. It is secure based on its complexity and is the main way to manage or reset your Windows Hello settings.
