About the Motorola DP3400

The Motorola DP3400 is a portable Two Way Radio that supports both Analogue and Digital communication. This dual mode capability allows it to work with older Analogue Radios as well as newer digital systems, making it a flexible choice for organisations transitioning from Analogue to Digital.

The Motorola DP3400 is available in a UHF Frequency - (UHF1 -403-470 MHz), and a VHF Frequency (136-174 MHz).

PTT Button

The Motorola DP3400 is designed for intuitive and efficient operation. It features a large, textured push-to-talk (PTT) button that is easy to find and press, even when you are wearing gloves.

For quick access to key functions, the Radio has three programmable buttons, which can be customised to activate features with a single press. Additionally, a tri-colour LED on the top of the DP3400 provides a clear, at-a-glance indication of the Radio's operating status, including whether it's transmitting, receiving, or in a low-battery state.

Emergency Button

The Motorola DP3400 has a dedicated Emergency Button. It is a bright orange button that is located on the top of the Radio, next to the Antenna. This distinct colour and location make it easy for a user to find and press in a critical situation, even without looking at the Radio. When pressed, it sends an emergency alert signal to other Radios on the network to notify others of a safety or security incident.

Safety Features

The Motorola DP3400 includes safety features to protect users working alone or in remote locations.

Its Lone Worker feature is designed for this purpose, if the Radio remains inactive for a set period of time, it will automatically initiate an emergency alert. This ensures that help can be dispatched even if the worker is unable to call for it themselves.

Individual and Group Calling

The DP3400 Rradio supports both individual and group calling to facilitate different types of communication.

For private conversations, operators can use individual calling to speak directly with one specific user. Alternatively, group calling is available for supervisors or team leaders who need to broadcast a message or update to an entire team at once.

VOX

With VOX Capability, the Motorola DP3400 allows for Handsfree communication.

When this feature is enabled, the Radio automatically activates the microphone and push-to-talk (PTT) button as soon as you start speaking. This is especially useful in situations where using your hands is unsafe or impractical, such as in hazardous environments or while performing hands-on work.

Channels

The DP3400 Radio is equipped with 32 channels and a built in channel scanning feature. This allows you to set one channel as a dedicated scan channel. When activated, the radio will automatically cycle through a list of pre-programmed channels, ensuring you don't miss any transmissions. This is particularly useful for monitoring multiple talk groups or departments at once.

Military Standards

The DP3400 is built to be extremely durable, meeting Military Standard 810 for tests like pressure, temperature, vibration, and impact. This rugged design allows the radio to reliably operate in harsh conditions, withstanding temperatures from as low as -30°C to as high as 60°C.
