The Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise 8262 DECT Handset is a rugged professional wireless system handset designed for mobile employees working in demanding environments such as construction, manufacturing and the oil and gas industry.
Designed to combine dependable workplace communication with enhanced worker protection, the 8262 features a rugged IP65-rated body, shock-resistant screen, Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity, 2.4-inch colour display, ambient noise reduction and comprehensive Isolated Worker Protection functionality.
Its durable construction and advanced safety features make the 8262 particularly suitable for organisations where employees may work independently, in challenging conditions or across larger professional sites.
Please Note - The Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise 8262 is a DECT system handset and requires compatible Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise telephone system and DECT infrastructure to operate; it is not a standalone cordless telephone.
This product is supplied as the handset package only, the Alcatel-Lucent 8262 Desktop Charging Cradle and Power Supply are not included, but can be ordered separately.
The Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise 8262 is particularly suited to construction, manufacturing, oil and gas and other demanding workplaces, where employees may work independently, operate in challenging conditions or require additional workplace safety support.
Designed specifically for harsh professional environments, the Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise 8262 features a ruggedised body and shock-resistant screen, helping employees remain connected in workplaces where equipment may be exposed to more demanding everyday conditions.
The handset carries an IP65 rating and has undergone extensive free-fall testing, including 30 drops from 1.2 metres and 12 drops onto concrete with testing extended to a height of 2 metres. It has also undergone 1,000 drop-test cycles from 0.5 metres.
One of the major distinguishing features of the 8262 is its comprehensive Isolated Worker Protection functionality, designed to provide additional safeguards for employees working alone or in potentially hazardous environments.
Supported functions include man-down detection, no-movement calls, shock calls, an oversized emergency alarm button and optional pull cord support. The handset also supports periodic live calls and alarm acknowledgement when integrated with appropriate system infrastructure.
The 8262 supports location functionality designed to help organisations locate mobile employees when used with compatible infrastructure.
Location can be determined using triangulation from up to four DECT base stations or through Bluetooth Low Energy (BTLE) beacons. Location data can be transmitted alongside notifications, with an external server required to provide the supported location functionality.
A large 2.4-inch graphical colour display provides a clear interface for accessing calls, directories, messages and supported telephone system functions.
The screen provides 320 × 240 pixel resolution with up to 65,000 colours, together with a white display backlight. The keypad uses blue backlighting to help make controls easier to identify in different working environments.
The 8262 incorporates two microphones with ambient noise reduction, helping improve communication for employees working in environments where surrounding noise could otherwise interfere with conversations.
An integrated hands-free speakerphone and microphone mute provide additional flexibility for everyday professional calling.
Integrated Bluetooth 4.0 supports compatible Bluetooth accessories, giving employees the option of using a compatible wireless headset with the handset.
For users who prefer a wired headset, the 8262 also provides a 3.5mm TRRS-compliant headset connection, providing a choice of wired or wireless call handling.
The 8262 has been developed with demanding industrial environments in mind. Its specific body shield and grip allow the handset to be operated while wearing appropriate work gloves used in industries including chemistry, construction and metallurgy.
This makes the handset particularly useful for employees who need reliable communications without continually removing their protective gloves to operate their telephone.
A replaceable 1100mAh lithium-ion battery provides up to 20 hours of talk time and up to 200 hours of standby time, helping support extended professional working periods.
Charging takes less than three hours using compatible charging equipment. The handset can be charged using separately available compatible charging equipment or through its Micro-USB Type-B connection.
