Mounted Fan Units
PMC Telecom – Mounted Fan Units
The equipment used for telephone systems, networks, and servers these days is a lot more powerful and smaller than it ever was in the past. AS a result of the huge benefits these present you with, though, there is the trade-off is the fact that they generate even more heat. Much of the power used by these kinds of devices is dissipated into the air around.
Without proper ventilation and a robust and effective cooling system, your servers and phone system are in danger of overheating. Even if your network room or the office where your data or telephony cabinets are situated has fans installed, it may not be enough. Fortunately, Prism, the company behind a full range of different sized cabinets we stock here at PMC Telecom, have powerful fan setups that can help keep your operations-critical cabinets cool and therefore running without risk of damage.
At PMC Telecom, as we have been in business since 1991, we know how important it is for your servers and phone systems to stay running, apart from when upgrades or repairs are being made. If this is your first time buying cooling equipment for your office or server cabinet, we understand that it might be a little intimidating. That is why we have put a helpful guide to making the right decisions when choosing fans and other cooling solutions.
Make Sure The Cabinet Doors Have Adequate Airflow
One of the measures that most manufacturers of cabinets, server equipment, and telephony hardware suggests is that you should make sure there is around 68% in an open area to the front and back of a cabinet or rack to ensure there is adequate airflow. Ideally, this can be done with the use of removable cabinet doors or doors in the cabinet that have perforations. It may be that, as the majority of server units and other network hardware are built with internal fans, that is all the ventilation you need. That is, as long as there is enough air conditioning in the room it is all situated to dissipate the generated heat.
There are also cabinets you can invest in with side panels that further increases the airflow.
Placement of Hardware and Fans
Another consideration you need to make, ideally when you are first setting up your network or server cabinets is not having too many in one cabinet. Don’t try to completely fill a cabinet, thinking you are making the best use of the space available. It is best to aim for around 75 to 80% capacity. You also should try to aim for at least 4cm of clear space between server and telephony equipment and the cabinet back and front. Furthermore, use blank panels to close off unused space to stop cold and hot air mixing.
If your cabinets need more cool air passed through them, then that is when you need to start looking at fans, like the mounted fan units we have here at PMC Telecom. The fan units we have available here come in two basic forms – ceiling mounted, and rack-mounted.
Why Trust PMC Telecom
Although you may be sure that you need a solution to keep your servers, networks, and telephony equipment cool, you may not be sure why you should trust PMC Telecom over other retailers. As noted earlier, we have been in business since 1991. During the time that has passed, we have established and maintained an excellent and enviable reputation as one of the best suppliers and retailers in the telecommunications industry.
A major part of why we have had so much success is down to, we believe, our approach to business and our customers. Without our customers, we’d not have the success we have had. Therefore, it is ultimately best for us to deliver quality products at prices our customers can afford, regardless of what budget they have available to invest in equipment and full-scale solutions.
That is why we have been careful to align ourselves with and stock fans by Prism. Not only are their fan units designed to fit into Prism cabinets, that we also sell, but they are made to an impeccably high standard.
