Two-way radios have come a long way over the last couple of decades. Although they have the same kind of design and functionality they always have had in the past, the quality and additional features have evolved and improved with the passing of time and advancements made with the technology used. Unlicenced walkie walkies and different forms of two-way radio are the more commonly available option, just because of the ease and convenience they offer.
You don’t need to sign up for a licence – you can just set them up and start using them as soon as you purchase them.
However, if you are looking to benefit from a greater outdoor range, then it may be time to seriously consider investing in long-range/licenced two-way radios. With more than 30 years in the industry, we have the experience, knowledge and have gained an enviable reputation for our commitment to providing the best quality products for the most reasonable prices.
Therefore, if you are looking for licenced long-range two-way radios for an exceptional price, take a look at the above selection of products.
The difference between standard unlicenced, use out of the box, two-way radios are that they do not require a licence to use them. That is because they come with a set frequency band you can use. The downside is that lots of people use this same frequency band and it does not offer the same outdoor range. So, if you need to spread out from the users on the other end of the radio signal, short-range radios may not provide suitable coverage. Whereas with licenced radios, you need to apply to Ofcom, for your own frequency. This means you can be sure that only you and other users related to you will be using the same frequency band and these radios tend to be more powerful and offer greater coverage outdoors.
There are two types of licenced long-range two-way radios that we stock here at PMC Telecom – Ultra High Frequency and Very High Frequency (or UHF and VHF for short). Each of these is better suited to specific uses and locations.
